Roche is the world leader in in vitro diagnostics (IVD) and tissue-based cancer diagnostics and a front runner in diabetes management. Roche Sequencing is seeking a talented scientist to work within Bioinformatics to build, optimize and maintain computational workflows that enable the approval of next-generation sequencing (NGS) IVDs. This position requires an adaptable scientist to address the many demands of technology development, biomarker validation, software prototyping and working with multiple stakeholders across disciplines and departments. This position provides broad exposure to diverse clinical and analytical problems for the development and approval of NGS-based tests.
Responsibilities
- Design studies and analyze data to optimize NGS workflows across a range of applications and sample types.
- Rapidly prototype or adapt Bioinformatic workflows for biomarker validation, assay development and analysis automation.
- Provide bioinformatics support in matters of equivalency testing, assay migration, analytical and clinical validation.
- Work with experimentalist to build and optimize NGS procedures such as sample management, extraction, library preparation and sequencing.
- Work proactively and iteratively with stakeholders to address problems relevant to hypothesis testing and biomarker validation in a range of biological contexts especially genetics and oncology.
- Significant experience with multiple NGS platforms.
- Significant experience with genomics-based pipelines, data management and working with a dynamic codebase.
- Expert knowledge of R (Bioconductor) and a scripting language such as Python.
- Previous experience working in a high performance computing environment including proper usage of version control and computational project management.
- Familiar with oncology and genetics.
- PhD in bioinformatics, computer science, physics, mathematics or a related discipline.
