Our IT department spans acrossthe entire value chain at Janssen Pharmaceuticals from discovery to afterlaunch. This breadth will enable the senior scientist to work with variousbusiness units to help identify viable data integration solutions. The SeniorScientist will be someone who has an appreciation for the data heterogeneity inscientific analysis, stays on the cutting edge of data technologies, includingnoSQL and semantic web implementations in addition to their existing relationaldatabase skills. The Senior Scientist will be part of a dynamic, accomplished informaticsteam that will support multiple R&D therapeutic areas in the discovery anddevelopment of innovative medicines. A PhDdegree in Computational Informatics, Computational Chemistry, Biochemistry,Computer Sciences, Computational Biology or a related discipline is required. Aminimum of 5 years of related industry experience is required. A strongunderstanding of drug discovery and development processes is required. Hands-onexperience in full-cycle bioinformatics or cheminformatics software developmentespecially in data processing, loading, pipeline development and informaticstools integration is required. Strongworking knowledge of relational databases, data architectures, and dataintegration technologies is required. Proficientwith one or more programming language such as PL/SQL, C, .NET, Java, Python ispreferred. Experiencedin informatics analysis and visualization software/tools such as R, SAS JMP,Pipeline Pilot, or Spotfire is preferred. Experiencewith non-relational data stores such as noSQL database technologies or semanticweb is preferred. Familiaritywith large datasets, handling of biomedical datasets and understanding of dataanalysis workflows is preferred. Up to10% travel is required.
