Job Duties: The Ribas Lab and the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy Center at UCLA is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated applied mathematician/statistician with computational skills to study immunotherapy, with focus on large genomics data sets from experimental work and high throughput research. The incumbent should be able to develop statistical and research methods and perform statistical analysis integrating large-scale data sets. The incumbent should be a highly collaborative researcher who can spend half time performing data exploration with clinicians and experimentalists and half time generating data using available bioinformatics tools. Under the Associate Director of Bioinformatics, the incumbent will provide a supporting role in various research projects with an opportunity to build bioinformatics skills and to publish as a co-author. Domain knowledge in cancer, genomics, and immunology research is a plus, however the Associate Director of Bioinformatics and Center Director will provide training in these areas to build towards independent data mining efforts. Job Qualifications: -Masters degree or equivalent in a big data computational field with a preference for applied math, computational statistics, and the physical sciences. -Extensive knowledge with statistics. -Extensive experience with the R statistical programming language. -Ability to work collaboratively and also independently. -Knowledge of research design and sampling theory. -Skill in statistical programming and data mining. -Ability to conceptualize desired table and graphs and create them from raw data. -Ability to track and document notable events for each research study as they might pertain to study outcomes. -Ability to recognize, spell, and use technical and medical terminology appropriately. -Ability to write manuscripts for scientific peer-review journals. -Ability to use software Word for Windows, Microsoft Windows, Powerpoint, Excel, Access. -Skill in planning, organizing, and writing presentations for professional audiences. -Ability to select and pass on relevant information to co-investigators. -Knowledge of basic computer hardware.
