Bioinformatics Trainer / Scientist (BI-0114) Bioinformatics Unit Orion Genomics, LLC  

Orion Genomics, LLC is searching for a Bioinformatics Trainer / Scientist to join our bioinformatics team. Orion is currently involved in a number of collaborative projects using next generation sequencing, and DNA microarrays in research areas such as de novo genome assembly and annotation, methylation analysis, expression analysis, comparative genomics, physical and genetic mapping and targeted trait identification.  The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in these and related analysis methods and tools.

  This individual will have a dual role of providing on-site bioinformatics training to clients as well as performing data analysis for a variety of projects. You should be well versed in all aspects of next-generation sequencing technologies and algorithms. You will work with clients to provide training and advice regarding their own in-house projects.   Qualifications:    PhD in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or Bioinformatics.    Skill with bioinformatics tools involving genome wide analysis and expertise in various genome analysis and visualization software packages.    Skill and familiarity with Linux/Unix command-line computing environments.    Knowledge of relational database management systems, SQL, and database design.    Expertise with a scripting language such as Perl, Python, or other programming languages.    Excellent written and oral presentation skills.    Able to teach and develop training materials.    Able to travel internationally.   Valuable Skills Include:    Experience analyzing next-gen sequencing data from various platforms.    Experience teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level.   This position is available immediately at our St. Louis, Missouri facility.
