Job Description:
The Linux System Administrator for backups and storage is responsible for supporting all Natera IT Backup Infrastructure and storage infrastructure. This position is focused on internal IT service delivery.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Setup, configure, and perform day to day maintenance and administration of all corporate storage and backup infrastructure.
  • Develop, document, and implement standard operating procedures and customer service. guidelines relating to storage and backup services.
  • Perform day to day break fix and troubleshooting storage related tickets.
  • Ensure data replication and backup integrity.
  • Maintain legacy Symantec BackupExec infrastructure.
  • Ensure data replication (SnapVault and SnapMirror) and backups are running, and failed jobs are resolved.
  • Maintain disaster recovery data replication.
  • Capacity Planning Data tiering and usage trending.
  • Support hardware and software installation, configuration, operation and ongoing maintenance of the computer/data center.
  • Operate, monitor and perform basic troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Assist with logging and documentation of equipment and processes.
  • Responsibilities may also include cabling, racking and server installations.
  • This role works with PHI on a regular basis both in paper and electronic form and have an access to various technologies to access PHI (paper and electronic) in order to perform the job.
  • Employee must complete training relating to HIPAA/PHI privacy, General Policies and Procedure Compliance training and security training as soon as possible but not later than the first 30 days of hire.
  • Must maintain a current status on Natera training requirements.
  • Employee must pass post offer criminal background check.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s or equivalent required. BS in Engineering, Computer Science or MIS degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of overall related experience required.
  • 3+ years of Commvault experience including planning for DR preferred.
  • 3+ years of Ubuntu Server or RedHat Enterprise Linux Administration experience preferred.
  • 3+ years of NetApp experience with multiple filers using SnapVault and SnapMirror technologies preferred.
  • Experience with NetApp Clustered Data ONTAP 8.0 or higher.
  • Experience With VMWare VSphere 6 Storage Requirements And Optimization.
  • In depth knowledge of CIFS, and NFS maintenance and performance tuning.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:
  • Scripting skills highly desirable. Python or Bash preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and influence at all levels of management.
  • Strong knowledge of backup, High-Availability and DR strategies.
  • Good understanding of Information Security and compliance considerations.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong teamwork style and behavior.
  • Self-Starter.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
  • Duties are typically performed in an office setting.
  • This position requires the ability to use a computer keyboard, communicate over the telephone and read printed material.
  • Duties may require working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends) at times, or being part of an on-call rotation.
