Job Description:

Are you willing to actively develop statistical models, down to writing the algorithm if necessary?

This requires an in-depth understanding of statistics, as well as basic programming and data management skills. Success will require strong statistical problem-solving skills and the ability to leverage cutting-edge big data technologies.

As a Data Scientist, a typical day might include the following:

  • Building a simulation engine from scratch using the MEAN stack and Rapid Miner to support teams of analysts working on many different global infectious diseases
  • Creating a tool to predict student drop-out risk using R and millions of snapshots of student activity to allow teachers to intervene quickly and effectively
  • Using R, creating models of customer satisfaction that provide detailed insight into what causes a customer to leave.
  • Integrating online shopping channels to create a unified forecast of customer purchasing, then building a data visualization in Power BI on top of a SQL pipeline for aggregating data.
  • Collaborating with other data scientists and stakeholders on projects.
You’re good at:
  • Researching and designing statistical models to answer target questions, optimizing processes and outcomes, and informed decision-making
  • Developing solutions in R or Python
  • Working in Hadoop, Redshift, or Spark
  • Translating business and product questions into analytics projects
  • Communicating clearly over written and oral channels while translating complex methodologies and analytical results into high-level insights
You have:
  • 5+ years of experience in analyzing complex data sets with experience in advanced analytics practices
  • Experience working with unstructured big data (e.g. Hadoop)
  • Experience with high-velocity data such (e.g. click-streams)
  • Understanding of data warehousing principles
You may also have:
  • Experience in marketing analytics, attribution modeling, or click-stream data analysis
  • MS / PhD in Machine Learning, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Mining, Math or any quantitative discipline
