ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Work with the CTSI Director, Dean of the Medical School, Senior Associate Deans, Chairs, Institute/Center Directors and faculty to drive the biomedical informatics infrastructure initiative
- Foster scientific excellence, collaboration and innovation, and promote an active user program
- Lead implementation of MCW biomedical informatics priorities, and work with partner institutions and departments to implement strategies and assess outcomes
- Work collaborative to educational goals with Deans of the graduate schools to bring to bear the strength of existing programs and develop programs as needed to attain national recognition in the field and foster faculty development in biomedical informatics
- Lead the research efforts to increase the strength of existing research programs across CTSI institutions to attain national recognition
- Provide strategic oversight for the Clinical Research Data Warehouse and oversee expansion ofi2B2 in an academic research setting
- Manage Clinical Data Repositories and Interface with Bio-specimen repositories, CTMS (Clinical Trials Management System) and other campus databanks
- Develop and integrate research tools using an open source platform and restful web services
- Serve as external representative for CTSI and MCW’s biomedical informatics
- Proactively identify opportunities to represent the CTSI and the College at the local and national level
- Resolve problems, coordinate communication and collaborate in trouble-shooting situations in biomedical informatics
- Strengthen existing partnerships and seek out new connections at the local, regional and national CTSA level
- Oversee the extension of the Faculty Profiling System for research networking opportunities across the CTSA consortium through ontologies like Vivo
- Increase collaboration opportunities by contributing to a national core resource facilities environment (eagle-i) by providing access to the CTSI of Southeast Wisconsin research cores.
- Position CTSI and MCW as a national leader in the field
- Work with faculty colleagues to strengthen MCW’s leadership nationally
- Increase visibility and provides leadership at the CTSA level
- Lead Evaluation and Metrics reporting of biomedical informatics tools
- Work to disseminate MCW biomedical informatics efforts locally, statewide, and nationally
- Serve on national committees focused on biomedical informatics
