Job Description:

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES

  • Apply existing and novel algorithms to genomic data sets, analyze data quality, critically review and analyze results, communicate results to biologists, computational biologists, software engineers and clinicians.
  • Develop data analysis strategies, write algorithms, and deploy computational tools for the exploration of very large data sets.
  • Explore novel data visualization tools, with emphasis on integrating diverse data types or sets
  • Implement or improve algorithms in software tools for distribution to the global research community Requirements
  • B.S. in computer science, mathematics, (bio)statistics, bioinformatics, biology or a related discipline required.
  • Strong programming skills and experience with programming languages required, preferably C++ and/or Java, and at least one among Python, R, and Matlab.
  • Experience with computational analysis, algorithm development and statistics preferred.
  • Experience analyzing biological data in a research setting preferred.
  • Experience with Unix/Linux environments(including shell scripting).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, academic environment.
  • Demonstrated capability as highly organized, a creative problem-solver, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as within cross-functional teams; experience working in an interdisciplinary team with laboratory scientists and clinicians is a plus.
