Role Description As a member of the Precision Medicine group within Pfizer's Oncology Research Unit, the successful candidate will ensure that a current and experienced understanding of relevant human cancer biology and cancer biomarkers is integrated into antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) preclinical research teams so that robust patient selection strategies are developed and transitioned smoothly to clinical research. Responsibilities *Serve as lead partner for ADC discovery research project teams to establish predictive biomarker hypotheses (including indication selection, combination strategies, and therapy resistance mitigation). *Provide strategic insight and guidance for ADC biomarker strategies by contributing novel approaches and incorporating new technological capabilities. *Track predictive biomarker strategy progress through preclinical ADC development, applying Precision Medicine resources and technologies as needed. *Ensure that patient-derived xenograft models are fully leveraged to understand tumor sensitivity and resistance mechanisms. *Establish alignment for predictive biomarker and patient selection strategies to ensure successful translation from preclinical project teams to clinical development *Guide ADC discovery research project teams to generate data that justify and/or inform the collection and analysis of clinical tissue specimens *Enhance two-way communication between clinical and preclinical research groups, ensuring that clinical information and clinical biomarker assay results are expeditiously shared with relevant discovery research teams, and that the biomarker-related needs of both preclinical and clinical organizations are clearly articulated *Facilitate interplay between focused external partnerships and internal research activities including computational biology, tissue morphology assay development, genomic profiling, and basic research Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Advanced degree (PhD, MD, MD/PhD) with a focus on cancer biology and biomarkers TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS *Seven years or more of industry experience demonstrating excellence in predictive, prognostic, or pharmacodynamic biomarker development, validation, and clinical implementation, preferably in the area of large molecule drug development (biologics or ADCs) *Strong knowledge of cancer biology, pharmacology, drug resistance mechanisms and the design of drug combination studies *Extensive knowledge of modern laboratory techniques and their application to cancer biomarker discovery and validation *Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively while contributing to multiple projects, and to work well in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team setting *Outstanding communication skills Equal Employment Opportunity Pfizer is committed to equal opportunity in the terms and conditions of employment for all employees and job applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, gender identity or gender expression, national origin, disability or veteran status.
