Job Description:
We currently have a temporary vacancy for a Graduate Bioinformatician to join our core computational biology group. This group collaborates with scientists across the Institute to provide a wide range of bioinformatic services, including computational analysis and modelling. The successful candidate will provide bioinformatics services including RNAseq/ChIPseq analysis, data mining and solutions to other bioinformatics questions as they occur.

The successful applicant should ideally possess the following skills:

  • A degree in Bioinformatics, or in Computing/Biology with an interest in bioinformatics/computational analysis
  • Familiarity with RNAseq analysis
  • Ability to work in Unix/Linus environments
  • Experience of R
  • Experience with scripting languages (Shell, Python, Perl)
  • Some experience in biomedical research, functional proteomics or genomics and biological systems.
  • Excellent communication skills in order to determine scientist’s needs and discuss the results obtained.
Training will be provided for a candidate who does not possess all of these skills but who can demonstrate a real enthusiasm for a career in bioinformatics and has the necessary academic qualifications for the role.
