Bioinformatics Research Leader (Full-time, Pleasanton, CA) Salary: Market (Plus Benefits) Our Client is a world leader in In Vitro diagnostics (IVD) and tissue-based cancer diagnostics and a front runner in diabetes management. We are seeking a talented and motivated scientist to lead the analysis strategies for a range of next-generation sequencing (NGS) applications of future IVD products. The position requires learning domain specific biological concepts and implementing potentially complex algorithmic and statistical designs. That is, the scientist must be comfortable managing and / or engaging biologists, technologists, statisticians and bioinformaticians to produce a portfolio of platform independent solutions for the next generation of IVD products.   Responsibilities: ·         Lead the design and implementation of (prototype) workflows for the analysis of NGS data from a multitude of study designs, diseases areas and analyzes in a platform independent manner. ·         Serve as the subject matter expert for statistical, algorithmic and computational issues relevant to the analytical and clinical validation of NGS tests. ·         Provide bioinformatics leadership for internal R&D by engaging scientists, scoping problems, designing and implementing analysis solutions for the purpose of diagnostic product development in oncology and genetics. ·         Effectively weigh the costs and benefits of de novo implementations versus adapting publicly available software. ·         Work iteratively with stakeholders to address problems relevant to hypothesis testing and biomarker validation in a range of biological contexts.
