Job Description:

A PhD position in poultry genetics and genomics is available (Fall
2015) in the Department of Animal and Food Sciences at the University
of Delaware.

The primary goal for this position is to work on a next-generation
sequencing project on poultry genetics and genomics. The project
will primarily be focused on using the whole-genome sequence data (i)
to discover and characterize polymorphisms within and among purebred
populations and (ii) to characterize genomic landscape and relatedness
of purebred populations.

We are looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic person who possesses
good interpersonal skills and willing to work in close collaboration with
others. The individual is expected to interact with our industry partner
and have determination to gain insight and publish papers in leading,
international scientific journals.

The Research Assistantship includes a competitive stipend, as well as
covering 100% of tuition, and funds for presenting the research results
at regional, national and international scientific meetings. The student
will also have opportunities to perform internships or on-site research
with our industry partner in the U.S.

Candidates from different fields of biology are encouraged to apply;
however, those with background in animal breeding and genetics
with experience in analyzing large datasets are preferred. In your
