A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Tiziani at the Department of Nutritional Sciences, Dell Pediatric Research Institute at the University of Texas at Austin. The talented and highly motivated individual will contribute to the study of nutrition and cancer in pediatric diseases developing and applying metabolic flux analysis using high-resolution mass spectrometry.
Description
Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in Chemistry/ Bioengineering/ Bioinformatics/ Computational Biology/ Biophysics/Systems Biology or Biostatistics. The position requires a strong background in mass spectrometry, bioinformatics analysis, metabolic flux analysis and metabolomics. Proficiency in programming and/or scripting languages appropriate for labeled and unlabeled metabolic data analysis (e.g. Matlab, R, etc…) is expected. A person is eligible for a position as postdoctoral research fellow if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than four years before obtaining the Ph.D. degree. The candidate is expected to procure postdoctoral fellowship funding and will assist in the writing of grant applications. This is a one-year term appointment with the possibility of renewal for up to four years based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds, and ongoing operational needs.
