Senior Research Scientist

Job Description:

We seek a highly motivated individual to join an EU-funded research project within Laboratory of Recombination and DNA Repair. Our laboratory focuses on molecular understanding of recombination and DNA repair processes. Using biochemical, structural, microscopic, bioinformatics, single/molecule and genetic approaches we wish to shed light onto mutation avoidance and development of cancer. The laboratory headed by Assoc. Prof. Lumír Krejčí, is part of the multidisciplinary research platform - Center of Biomolecular and Cellular Engineering (CBCE), which represents one of the research platforms of the International Clinical Research Centre (ICRC). ICRC is a joint research centre of St. Anne´s University Hospital in Brno and Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota (USA) and links together pre-clinical basic research (e.g. in stem cell biology, cancer biology etc.) with clinical research (for more info see http://www.fnusa-icrc.org/en/). The CBCE platform focuses on research of biologically active small molecules and engineered proteins, which currently represent one of the promising tools for influencing biological processes such as genomic cell stability, cell growth, cell differentiation, cell reprogramming to pluripotency, cell death, and cell survival. Prerequisites for successful role performance: • Senior research scientist in cell biology, molecular biology, or biochemistry • Several years of productive post-doctoral experience in a high-quality academic environment • Excellent track record of publications • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Able to effectively present scientific data and concepts to international standards. Professional requirements: • Characterization of RAD51 recombinase in genome stability • EMBO member • Mentoring of selected lab members • Managing and co-ordination of collaborative projects Personal characteristics: We are seeking a strong team player with excellent communication and strong organisation skills.
