Job Description:
We are looking to fill a position of biostatistics/ bioinformatician to work in the Figeys’ lab at the Ottawa Institute of Systems Biology (OISB), University of Ottawa. The Figeys’ lab is focusing on proteomics for the study of human diseases. See more information:

Required
• PhD degree in biochemistry, biostatistics or bioinformatics
• Experience in processing and analyzing large-scale -omic data
• Experience in working with bioinformatics databases (gene, protein etc)
• Experience in Statistical methods, including principal component analysis, survival analysis, multivariate, time series trend analysis, ANOVA, and sample size power analysis
• Experience in working with at least one scripting languages (such as Python or Perl), or high level programming languages (such as C++, C#, or Java), and web development languages (HTML, CSS Javascript, PHP, CGI);
• Strong ability to learn new analytical methods, algorithms, or software;
• Strong ability to present data in clear and cohesive manner to multidisciplinary audiences;
• Team working
Preferred
• Experience in mass spectrometry based proteomics. Knows the basics of LCMS, proteomics, protein quantification etc. Understanding and expertise on proteomic data analysis using some or all of the following: Bioconductor, Ingenuity Pathway Analysis, CytoScape and all other popular tools.
• Experienced in web server or database development
• Degree in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or related fields;
• Machine learning methodologies, such as Random Forest, SVM, Logistic regression, nested loop cross validation, discriminant analysis
Responsibilities and Duties
• This position will work on multiple funded projects. He/she is also encouraged to develop new projects.
• Data mining of existing dataset
• Developing workflow/pipeline or tools for data analysis
• Getting involved in collaborative projects.
