Senior Scientist, Research & Development (LC-MS)
Location: Franklin, MA
Position Summary: Thermo Fisher Scientific is hiring a dynamic and self-motivated individual to support development of state-of-the-art LC-MS instrumentation. Come make a difference in the science and clinical research community through your applied research on our current and next generation products. Major Responsibility:
• Initiates the design, development, execution and implementation of technology related research and product development projects.
• Applies advanced scientific knowledge to projects in evaluating the value of inventions and product modifications.
• Participates in projects from end to end from concept creation through release to manufacturing and commercialization.
• Maintains strong expert knowledge of scientific principles and theories and may contribute to scientific literature and conferences.
• May participate in development of patent applications.
• May coordinate cross site activities related to research efforts and product development.
Minimum Requirements or Qualifications:
• Typically requires a Bachelor's degree (in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Toxicology, etc. ) with a minimum of 8 years of related experience; or a Master's degree with a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or a PhD with 3 years of related experience.
• Strong knowledge of separation science as applied to LC-MS.
• Strong LC-MS instrument and method development and troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to make independent decisions based on available evidence.
• Ability to divide problems and projects into manageable tasks.
• Excellent group interaction skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to accurately plan and define projects.
• Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks with differing priorities.
• Demonstrate Thermo Fisher Scientific values – Integrity, Intensity, Innovation and Involvement.
Desired Qualifications:
• Knowledge in application of liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry to trace analysis in complex samples is desirable.
• Previous successful academic or work-related experience in mentoring peers preferred.
Relocation is not available for this position.
