Job Description:
This position will be involved in the design and implementation of bioinformatics software tools. These tools include open source software for use by other bioinformaticians, as well as web-based tools for use by experimental biologists. Many of these tools have a particular emphasis on crowdsourcing and citizen science, and the vast majority of software will be released as open source. Some representative tools that are currently being developed in the lab include: BioGPS.org,mygene.info, mark2cure.org, biobranch.org, Omics Pipe, and OncoRep. The specific duties of this position are heavily rooted in computer programming and software engineering. Those duties include the design and implementation of applications, as well as the improvement and maintenance of existing applications.

Basic Qualifications
Ph.D. in bioinformatics or in an appropriate scientific discipline required. A minimum of 2 years postdoctoral experience in software application development and programming. Must have proven expertise in building robust software in a multi-developer environment.
Preferred Qualifications
The technology stack currently used in the lab includes: jQuery Bootstrap Python/Django Java/Tomcat R/Bioconductor Weka Tornado Postgres MongoDB ElasticSearch uWSGI Nginx AWS EC2 AWS AMT Mercurial/git Prior experience with one or more of these technologies is preferred. Descriptions of how and why you ve used competing technologies is also welcome. Prior experience with open-source software is strongly preferred. Including links to public code repositories is strongly recommended.
