Position Summary:

The field of clinical mass spectrometry is currently growing at an exponential rate. The impact that mass spectrometry can make in this field is no longer limited to small molecules, but now encompasses proteomics as well. The identification and quantitation of intact proteins presents many opportunities and challenges in a clinical setting. We are looking for a forward thinking scientist with a background in biology and analytical chemistry, ideally - a solid combination of biochemistry, wet chemistry, liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry, to work as an integral part of this he multidisciplinary R&D team on novel LC/MS based applications for the clinical market.

Minimum Requirements
• Ph.D. in chemistry, physics or biological sciences.
• Five years experience at the post doctoral and/or industrial level is required.
• Extensive experience in mass spectrometry and data interpretation/bioinformatics is necessary.
• Experience in proteomics.
• Background in protein chemistry.
• Ability to work closely with a multidisciplinary scientific team.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Strong innovative problem solver with innovative/creative thinking skills for solving difficult analytical challenges

Preferred Requirements:
• Hands-on experience with a variety of sample preparation techniques including cell culture and analysis , and protein fractionation techniques
• Proficiency with different liquid chromatography techniques and separation strategies
• Fundamental and theoretical knowledge in mass spectrometry, instrumentation development skills are highly valued
• Good working knowledge of top-down and bottom-up proteomics analysis techniques using LC-MS/MS and LC-MS, ideally - on a variety of mass spectrometer systems
• Skilled in protein chemistry/purification including isolation, fractionation, and immunocapture
• Excellent data interpretation skills, including applying various bioinformatics and/or statistics software packages to MS-based data. Programming skills are a plus
• Attention to the details in setting, conducting, and documenting experiments, with records keeping in compliance with the Company policy
• Ability to communicate efficiently with the experts in the other scientific and technical fields
• Willingness to learn new skills
• Previous work experience in a BSL-2 lab with potentially contagious samples preferred
• Background in specialized field of biology, preferably microbiology
• Good hands-on knowledge of aseptic techniques, bioanalytical method validation, and experience within a GLP environment is highly desirable
• Experience in either a CLIA or FDA cleared laboratory is preferred
