The Position
Senior Scientist, Oncology Bioinformatics
A creative and accomplished scientist to lead a bioinformatics group supporting Genentech’s oncology discovery programs and leading our interrogation of genomic information to enable discovery of the next generation of cancer therapeutics.
This position offers a remarkable opportunity to lead a highly talented group of scientists in an exceptional research environment. The group will work in close collaboration with world-class teams in oncology discovery and the bioinformatics and computational biology department. Oncology is being transformed by genomics and other big data, raising both great promise and challenges. This position offers an unparalleled opportunity to shape the future of computational biology and help deliver transformative new medicines.
Who You Are
•PhD with a minimum of 7 years post-doctoral research experience.
•A leader in bioinformatics/computational biology with a strong background in oncology and genomics.
•Experience in epigenetics, tumor immunology, cancer genome analysis, biomarker and target development are strong plusses.
•Consistent record of cutting edge research as shown by first or senior author publications in top journals.
•Recognized scientific leadership as documented by references and external presentations.
•Significant experience in managing and mentoring scientists, and in designing and executing an innovative research program.
•Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse scientists from computational and experimental backgrounds, to lead teams, to deliver on clear timelines, and to influence senior management in bioinformatics strategy.
Depending on candidate skill set, position can be filled at a Senior OR Principal level.
