Summary:
The Molecular Profiling group is seeking a bioinformatics research associate with experience in bioinformatics, statistics, and large-scale data analysis. The successful candidate will analyze proprietary and public cancer profiling data to support target and biomarker discovery & development, as well as implement and develop analysis pipeline using cutting-edge algorithms and statistically sound methodologies Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Analyze NGS (next generation sequence) and microarray data using proprietary and public tools to support targets and biomarker discovery
• Implement algorithms and develop data analysis pipelines according to project needs
• Compile and curate historical molecular profiling experiments
• Prepare clear, concise and easy-to-understand presentations and documentations for each project
• Communicate results with scientists and refine analysis based on feedback
• Organize and integrate proprietary and public molecular profiling data and results to enable data sharing with and visualization for bench scientists
Requirements
Education & Experience:
This position requires a B.S./M.S. degree and minimum of 3-5 years of post-degree experience in computational biology, bioinformatics, or biostatistics.
Required skills:
• Expertise in cancer NGS data analysis to detect gene expression change, mutation, copy number variation, fusion and alternative splicing
• Experience with analyzing cancer profiling data in the public domain such as TCGA
• Experience with a variety of molecular profiling platforms such as microarray and NGS, and their data analysis best practices
• Proficiency in R/Matlab and scripting languages such as python, perl, ruby
• Expertise in bioinformatics tools and databases such as UCSC Genome Browser, spotfire, Ingenuity IPA
• Familiarity with mathematical modeling (e.g., machine learning) and geneset/pathway/network analysis; Keen interest and determination to be at the cutting-edge of algorithms and model building
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Team spirit and commitment to share and collaborate
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
Preferred skills:
• Experience with virus (endogenous and exogenous) finding, HLA genotyping and TCR profiling using NGS data is a plus
• Ability to develop custom tools to mine and integrate large-scale genomic/phenotypic data sets
