Job Description:
GeneDx, a CLIA-certified diagnostics laboratory located in Gaithersburg, MD, that provides molecular diagnosis for rare genetic diseases is recruiting for a Bioinformatics Developer.
The developer will work as part of a software development team to create and deploy software solutions for processing, analyzing, and interpreting clinical genetic data. The developer will contribute to both new and existing projects. The successful candidate must be self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a small team.
Requirements
• MS in Bioinformatics or BS in a related field (e.g. computer science)
• 1-3 years bioinformatics development experience
• Demonstrated proficiency in a major scripting language (Perl, Ruby, or Python)
• Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques (data mining, hypothesis testing, etc.)
• Experience developing and querying relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar)
• Working knowledge of command-line Linux and shell scripting (BASH, Awk)
• Familiarity with grid computing (SLURM, SGE, LSF, or similar)
• Experience with Git, SVN, or other version control software
• Experience with next-generation sequencing data processing and related tools (Samtools, GATK, etc.) preferred
• Experience with other genetic assay data (e.g. aCGH, MLPA) is a plus
• Knowledge of human genetics is a plus
