The Bioinformatics Web and Database Developer will create data models and build a LIMS system that manages lab and data processes. The developer will develop and prototype web framework and APIs and create robust applications that can handle a high volume of data and traffic.

As part of the Genetics Research and Development department, the Developer will initiate and implement database, web framework and API design to create robust and effective applications for genetics research and development and assist with translation/transition to clinical laboratory practice as necessary,
including:
• Building a database from scratch
• Schema and table design with necessary scalability
• Data acquisition, parsing and display
• Web framework and API development
• Front-end user interface design and implementation
• Security policy creation
• Performance evaluation
Requirements
• Graduate degree (MS/PhD) in computer science or related field with appropriate experience in web and database development, with minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in a Unix/Linux environment that includes utilization of server clusters and other distributed computing resources.
• Experience with Biology/Genetics is strongly preferred.
• Experience with next-generation sequencing and/or biological data is strongly preferred.
• Strong relational database and web framework experience with MySQL/SQL/Java/JavaScript/PHP,
• Excellent analysis and interpretation skills
• Work in a multi-disciplinary team using excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with scientists in related disciplines, including multi-functional department projects and collaborations.
• Ability to translate corporate goals into executable plans understanding technical risks, mitigations and alternatives
• Follow all applicable SOPs and maintain appropriate records
