Job Description:
Postdoctoral and research assistant positions in bioinformatics and computational biology are available in the laboratory of Prof. Edwin Cheung at the University of Macau (https://fhs.umac.mo/staff/academic-staff/edwin-cheung/). Our group’s main interest is to understand the molecular details of nuclear hormone signaling and how these pathways relate to diseases such as cancer. Specifically, we are investigating how steroid hormones such as estrogens and androgens regulate the transcriptional activities of nuclear hormone receptors in the context of a chromatin environment. To achieve this, we employ a combination of powerful biological tools, including modern genetic and cell-based techniques (RNAi, ChIP, and FISH) and next-generation sequencing approaches (ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq, and ChIA-PET), to define the molecular mechanisms of transcriptional regulation by estrogen and androgen receptors.

We are seeking independent and highly motivated candidates who will use functional and computational genomics approaches to study transcriptome regulation in the context of cancer. The candidates will also have the opportunity develop novel analysis pipelines for NGS data and to analyze data of advanced Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) applications such as single-cell genomics.

Requirements:
• Bachelor of Science, MPhil or PhD in bioinformatics, statistics, computer science, or other related fields
• Strong programming skills: Python, Perl, C, C++, Java, R, Matlab or other related programming knowledge
• Excellent skills in handling genomic databases
• Solid knowledge in computational genomics
• Strong quantitative and statistics background
• Ability to work on Linux environment
• Ability to perform multi-threaded programs
• Any experience in next-generation sequencing analysis will be valued
• Knowledge in both microarray and NGS analysis is a plus

Interested applicants should send a detailed CV and the contact information (e-mail and telephone numbers) of three references to:
