Job Description:
Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, Experimental Medicine, John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scientist in Immunology (Germinal Center Responses) to join Oliver Bannard’s group in the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine (WIMM), John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. Dr Bannard has recently joined the WIMM as a new group leader and a Sir Henry Dale Fellow. The lab’s principle goal is to understand the biology of germinal center (GC) responses; we wish to identify how GC B cells cope with the unique demands associated with repeatedly switching receptor specificity, engaging in safe and efficient selection, and ensuring clonal retention within the response while also generating memory and plasma cell populations. The successful candidate will undertake a project related to this overall goal, with the exact nature of the project depending upon the individual’s specific interests and/or skills.

This project will involve taking advantage of the world-class facilities at the WIMM including the Wolfson imaging suite, the genome targeting facility, and the single cell genomics core. The candidate should be confident in tackling the challenges associated with developing new experimental approaches. As a member of a new research group, you will work closely alongside Dr Bannard. You will have a PhD in Immunology or in a related subject. Expertise in cellular or molecular immunology is desirable. Informal enquiries can be made to Oliver Bannard: oliver.bannard@ndm.ox.ac.uk.

The post is fixed-term for up to 3 years initially. Applications from candidates who have not yet completed their PhD will be considered, to be appointed at Grade 6 (£27,057 - £32,277 p.a.) with amended duties and responsibilities.

Applications for this vacancy are to be made online. You will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your online application.

Only applications received before 12.00 midday on Monday 2 March 2015 will be considered.
