New drug targets for TB through prediction/investigation of impact of resistance mutations
Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research associate position that will form part of the Cambridge cohort of MM4TB, the EU FP7 collaboration in Tuberculosis.

The post holder will work in the laboratory of Professor Sir Tom Blundell in the University of Cambridge, Department of Biochemistry, Central Cambridge, working collaboratively with partners and to advise on the use of Credo, a database of protein-ligand interactions, and Chopin, our database of the M. tuberculosis structural proteome. The post-holder will also take the lead in rewriting the computer program SDM, which uses statistical analyses of amino acid substitutions in proteins of known structure to analyse the impacts of polymorphisms identified by gene sequencing. The post-holder will also collaborate with colleagues to integrate the computer program with mCSM which uses machine learning for analyses of effects of polymorphisms on protein stability, protein-protein, protein-nucleic acid, and protein-ligand interactions.

The successful applicant should have a proven knowledge of computer programming languages and should have written computer code for structural bioinformatics in the past.

Applicants should have a PhD in structural bioinformatics or computational biology or the equivalent with knowledge of molecular and structural biology.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 6 months in the first instance.
