Job Description:
DNAnexus works with academic and commercial customers who are on the forefront of genomic and clinical research. As a scalable, secure, and collaborative cloud platform, our customers seek us out to help put their tools and analyses in the cloud, apply them at scale, and work collaboratively in large consortia.
The Science team works in partnership with our customers. We translate their pipelines into the DNAnexus platform, use cloud resources to optimize and accelerate them, and confirm their scientific validity. We help train scientists to build their own tools on DNAnexus. We stay current on best practices in genomics and develop tools to benchmark these methods. In the process, we aggregate new tools and best practices, and in certain relationships we apply this knowledge as scientific consultants.
As a DNAnexus scientist, you will interact with leaders in the fields of research and clinical genomics, and through our partnerships your work will help deploy genomic knowledge in clinical practice, drug development, and large-scale academic consortia. You may occasionally publish in collaboration with our partners and often present work at scientific conferences.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in related field (computational biology, computer sciences, physics, etc.); PhD preferred.
- Strong computational ability – a major part of the job is coding
- Expert understanding of genomics
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working collaboratively with bioinformatics scientists
-Experience with NGS technology and pipelines a plus
- Participation in collaborative code development projects a plus
- Available for occasional travel (~25%) to conferences and customer groups
