Job Description:
DNAnexus is accelerating genome science and enabling genome-based precision medicine, by addressing the growing avalanche of genomic data with a scalable, secure, and collaborative cloud platform. Research institutions, medical systems, diagnostic testing providers, pharmaceutical companies, and biotechnology start-ups use DNAnexus in some of the largest genome projects currently underway. You're a bioinformatician familiar with genomics data analysis and you enjoy working hands-on with people to solve their informatics challenges. As a bioinformatician at DNAnexus, you'll develop and integrate bioinformatics data standards, methods, and datasets into our platform. You'll also be the scientific and technical liaison between DNAnexus and some of our highest-profile customers, working directly with them to implement their pipelines on our platform and teach them to use it, and ultimately growing our active user base.

Key responsibilities include:
Research, integrate, and test new bioinformatics methods in DNAnexus
Design data standards and integrate normalized genomics datasets in our platform
Introduce DNAnexus to prospective customers and demonstrate how we can help them migrate to the cloud
Teach new customers how to use our platform and use the SDK to develop their own functionality
Work directly with customers to assess their scientific and bioinformatics needs and help implement it
Advance our relationships with scientific and technical users and grow our active user base
Synthesize learnings from customers to help direct our technology development roadmap
Develop scientific use cases for customer visits, presentations, and marketing material

Requirements:
Degree in computer science, bioinformatics, biology, genetics, or related discipline with a computational emphasis
Strong programming ability in relevant languages such as Python, Java, Perl, Ruby, or shell scripting
Hands-on experience with genomics sequence analysis, for example using popular tools such as BWA and GATK
Excellent analytical, problem solving, and interpersonal skills
Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
Available for occasional travel
