Job Description:
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is searching at the Assistant Professor level for a highly talented individual to join its new SIMONS CENTER FOR QUANTITATIVE BIOLOGY. Specific research areas of interest include, but are not limited to, computational genomics, biophysics, evolutionary genetics, biological networks, computational neuroscience, image analysis and cancer biology. The successful candidate will have an outstanding record of research achievement and the ability to attract significant extramural research support. The Simons Center for Quantitative Biology (SCQB) is a growing new center of excellence on the CSHL campus, which has been generously endowed with a $50M donation from the Simons Foundation, plus other endowment gifts. The Center currently consists of ten faculty members with backgrounds in computer science, physics, applied mathematics, and genetics, and interests spanning genomics, neuroscience, biophysics, and cancer. Members of the SCQB are fully integrated and highly collaborative with the broader CSHL faculty, but the Center maintains a strong focus on mathematical, computational, and theoretical pursuits. The SCQB has recently recruited Prof. Adam Siepel to serve as Chair. Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is a world-renowned research and educational institution with programs in cancer, neuroscience, plant biology, and genomics as well as quantitative biology. The Laboratory is recognized internationally for its excellence in research and educational activities. Review of applications will begin July 15, 2015 and will continue until the position is filled.
