About the New York Genome Center

The New York Genome Center (NYGC) is an independent, non-profit organization that leverages the collaborative resources of leading academic medical centers, research universities, and commercial organizations. Our vision is to transform medical research and clinical care in New York and beyond through the creation of one of the largest genomics facilities in North America, integrating sequencing, bioinformatics, and data management, as well as performing cutting-edge genomics research. The NYGC is a VEVRAA Federal Contractor.

Position Description
The Clinical Sequencing Project Manager will provide support for clinical sequencing operations at NYGC. This will include day-to-day management of clinical sequencing inquiries, interaction with clinical laboratory staff and director. In addition, the Clinical Sequencing Project Manager will be responsible for tracking inquiries, projects, action items, deadlines, and organizing all supporting information.

Job duties will include, but are not limited to:
Manage clinical sequencing inquiries and track follow-up action items and progress;
Answer routine questions around sample submission and sequencing processes;
Coordinate with clinical lab manager to plan incoming projects and timelines for sample preparation and sequencing;
Review extraction, sequencing run and data QC statistics;
Coordinate troubleshooting of sample extraction, preparation, sequencing and data analysis with the laboratory and bioinformatics teams;
Assist clinical bioinformatics team members in planning data analysis;
Coordinate data delivery and communication.

Required Skills

PhD degree in Genetics or related field of study preferred.

Strong background in genetics and genomics research, with a thorough understanding of next generation sequencing technologies and a minimum of 3-5 years hands-on experience in next-generation sequencing.

Clinical lab experience, familiarity with CLIA/CLEP regulations and processes.

Excellent customer service skills and professionalism in dealing with a wide range of constituents.

Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels.

Demonstrated scientific writing skills.

Strong organizational and time management skills with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.

Motivated individual with ability to efficiently multi-task, work under pressure, handle interruptions and meet deadlines.

Ability to identify and solve problems, analyze data and implement/troubleshoot solutions.

A self-directed individual who is capable of taking initiative and assuming responsibility.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
