Job Description:

The Carleton College Department of Biology invites applications for a newly created tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level to start September 1, 2016. We seek a computational biologist who will develop a course in Genomics and Bioinformatics with laboratory, as well as additional courses that will complement the existing strengths of the department.  The department has a strong commitment to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts environment, and expects the candidate to develop an active on-campus research program with undergraduate students.  Research facilities and start-up funds will be provided. Carleton College is a highly selective liberal arts college with about 2000 undergraduates; over the last decade we have graduated 55 – 65 biology majors annually.  We are particularly interested in applicants who will strengthen the departmental commitment to students from underrepresented groups, and candidates committed to teaching a diverse student body. For further information on the department, visit our web site at https://apps.carleton.edu/curricular/biol/

To apply, complete the online application by September 14, 2015 at https://jobs.carleton.edu/. The online application should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching experience, and a statement of research plans that describes how undergraduates can be included. In addition, you will be asked to submit contact information for three individuals who can serve as references.

Carleton College does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, ethnicity, religion, sex, national origin, marital status, veteran status, actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, status with regard to public assistance, disability, or age in providing employment or access to its educational facilities and activities. We are committed to developing our faculty to better reflect the diversity of our student body and American society. Women and members of minority groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
