Assistant Professor: Bioinformatics and Big DataUniversity of FloridaDepartment of Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE)USA-Florida-Gainesville The Department of CISE at the University of Florida is recruiting one tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will demonstrate potential to conduct high-quality, interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research in bioinformatics, computational biology, and big data.

The Department of CISE currently has 42 tenured or tenure track faculty members with 13 Fellows of IEEE, ACM, AAAS, and SPIE. In addition, the CISE faculty has 13 CAREER and 3 Young Investigator Awards in addition to many other awards. The CISE Department offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degree programs with an enrollment of close to 1000 full-time undergraduate students and nearly 400 graduate students of which approximately 120 are PhD students. The Department's current external research expenditures exceed $5 million annually. Areas of research strength in the Department include: Applied Algorithms & Parallel Computing, Databases, Computer Vision and Machine Learning, Wireless Communications & Networking, and Graphics & Human Computer Interface. The Department has additional emerging areas of strength in cybersecurity, and big data and bioinformatics.
