Job Description:
Positions in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics are available at all levels to perform research in the Center for Human Genetic Research (CHGR) at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Harvard Medical School, as well as the the Broad Institute. The Talkowski laboratory is seeking multiple candidates at the Postdoctoral, Staff Scientist, and Bioinformatics Specialist levels to direct collaborative projects involving functional genomics and structural variation studies across multiple neurogenetic disorders, including familial dysautonomia, dystonia, and autism spectrum disorder. Highly qualified candidates would oversee computational genomic analyses for collaborations spanning multiple departments and institutions, and involving the integration of genomic datasets generated from human samples and iPS-derived cells modified using CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing. Candidates will have the opportunity to work in a unique translational genomics environment that will integrate computational genomics, technology development, and an advanced molecular genomics laboratory and will have significant independence, with appointments to MGH, HMS, and the Broad Institute, and will interact with collaborators within all three institutions. Ideal candidates will have an interdisciplinary background in bioinformatics & computational biology, advanced expertise in the analysis and interpretation of next-generation sequencing data focusing on RNA-seq and ChIP-seq and its integration with other “omics” data sources, or demonstrated expertise in human genetics and bioinformatics; good programming skills; and advanced knowledge of statistical methods. Candidates will also require excellent interpersonal skills to work in a highly collaborative environment across institutions, and will have significant independence. A Ph.D. in human genetics, quantitative genetics, computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, or mathematics is required for Postdoctoral Fellow or Staff Scientist positions. Exceptional candidates with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in these fields may be considered for Bioinformatics Specialist positions. No visa sponsorship is available for candidates other than Postdoctoral Fellows. All candidates should provide a cover letter and academic curriculum vitae or resume to Dr. Takowski (talkowski@chgr.mgh.harvard.edu; talkowsk@broadinstitute.org; http://talkowski.mgh.harvard.edu/) and copy Dr. Susan Slaugenhaupt (slaugenhaupt@chgr.mgh.harvard.edu) and Dr. Laurie Ozelius (lozelius@partners.org).
