Job Description:
The Boston College Biology Department seeks outstanding candidates for full-time, tenure-track faculty positions in the area of Bioinformatics and/or Computational Biology at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor depending on qualifications. Boston College provides competitive start-up funds and research space with the expectation that the successful candidate will establish, or bring to the university, a vigorous, externally funded research program. Qualifications The research interest of the candidates should be in one of the following areas: population genetics, molecular evolution/phylogenetics, systems biology, or bioinformatics approaches (ex. tool and/or algorithm development for DNA/RNA next generation sequence analyses). The successful candidate will join a vibrant Biology Department, comprised of both computational and experimental groups, that is expanding programs in the area of applying computational approaches to microbial systems biology, viral evolution, host-pathogen interactions, and RNA/protein structural analysis. Special consideration will be given to candidates whose research programs complement the existing focus areas of the department (see http://www.bc.edu/biology for profiles of the Biology Department's current research programs), that have a collaborative track-record, and/or who combine their work with wet-lab experimentation.
