Job Description:
The Informatics Asia Pacific partners with MSD business functional areas and external scientific institutions to develop and deliver innovative products focused on unmet patient need. We seek a talented, motivated scientist with experience and expertise in biomedical, clinical, and health informatics to join our efforts to further the objectives and reputation of MSD in the area of scientific information research to drive health care and drug discovery.
The successful candidate will:
•Be responsible for defining a strategy for enabling access and integrative analysis of internal and external biological, medical, clinical or healthcare data sets to support the drug pipeline
•Partner with functional leaders in Late Development teams to define the business need of informatics, identify and prioritize the projects, design and implement information infrastructure, and analyze multi-dimensional data sets
•Lead projects in the field of translational informatics, health informatics, clinical informatics or big data science
•Establish collaborative research in medical informatics with external academic institutes and hospitals in utilization of clinical and medical information
•Assist in managing and developing scientific team
Qualifications
The requirements for this position include:
•A PhD or MD degree with a focus on biomedical/health informatics, bioinformatics, epidemiology or biostatistics or related fields, or equivalent experience
•5+ years of professional experience in biomedical or clinical informatics, or bioinformatics, preferred in pharmaceutical industry
•Scientific expert in developing database and data analysis for real-world evidence research, clinical research and human genetic study
•Extensive experience in partnering with diverse business areas in drug discovery industry; Strong collaboration and communication skills are essential
•Solid scientific analytic skill including proficiency in programming language in Unix/Linux environment and proficiency in MatLab, R or SAS for statistical and mathematical modelling
•A proven track record of successful scientific accomplishments as demonstrated by a strong publication record
•Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
