Job Description:

Outstanding and motivated candidates are sought for an immediate opening in bioinformatics at The Hamner Institutes for Health Sciences in Research Triangle Park, NC. The successful applicant will be part of an interdisciplinary team of bioinformaticians, computational modelers and toxicologists developing a detailed network model of Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor (AhR) signaling in the liver. The goal of the project is to map the AhR transcriptional regulatory network in human, rat and mouse liver from gene expression and genome-wide location analysis (ChIP-chip / ChIP-seq) data, and develop a computational description of this network that can be embedded in a multi-scale, multicellular model of the liver. This appointment is scheduled to last for up to 6 months. There is no relocation or benefits available for this position.

Responsibilities will include:
Accessing, analyzing and combining microarray and ChIP-chip / ChIP-seq data sets to develop computational pathway models as a basis for informed dose response modeling. The position may require travel to professional society meetings to present research. A major goal of the project will be publication of important findings in peer-reviewed journals.

Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree and 6 years of working experience is required. The ideal candidate will have an MS in bioinformatics / genomics with experience in sequence analysis and analysis and interpretation of high-throughput data sets. Programming experience in R/Python/Perl is highly desirable.
