Position Overview We are currently seeking a Research Scientist I for our Research Institute located in Evanston, IL.  This is a full-time position and is benefits eligible.  Hours will be scheduled during normal business hours, Monday through Friday. Responsibilities In This Role, You Will

    • Work primarily on research using bioinformatics and computational biology theory and methods in areas including genetics, molecular biology, biotechnology, medical technology, medical informatics, and pharmaceuticals
    • Develop computational models and algorithms for processing and analyzing patient genomic and clinical information, and other biomedical data
    • Design and implement software tools, databases, and web portals that can process, analyze, store, and present various biomedical data
    • Lead research projects aiming for high-quality publications and internal/external research funding
    • Develop research plans and assist in the development and implementation of data management and quality assurance procedures
    • Other work includes preparation of manuscripts, reports, protocols and research proposals
  Our Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • PhD degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, genetics, molecular biology, statistics, electrical engineering, computer science or other related fields
  • Certified Clinical Research Profesional (CCRP) by Soc. for Clin. Res. Assoc. (SoCRA). CCRA, CCRC also acceptable.
  • At least 3 years research experience (after conferral of doctorate) in bioinformatics, computational biology, genetics, molecular biology, statistics, electrical engineering, computer science or other related fields
  • Capable of conducting independent research
  • Strong background and expertise in computation and biology
  • Track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Hands-on experience on the analysis of omics data, such as DNA and RNA sequencing data, microarray data, or proteomics data
  • Proficiency in programming with one or multiple of R, Matlab, Perl, shell script, C/C++, and Python
  • Familiar with popular bioinformatics and statistics analyses, such as differential gene selection, gene set enrichment analysis, ANOVA, and survival analysis
  • Capable of communicating with bench scientists about biological questions and transforming them into computational tasks
