IBM Research Australia is one of 12 IBM Research labs worldwide. It is primarily an industry solutions lab in the areas of emergency management, healthcare and smarter resource management. As one of the PostDoc's in the Research lab team, you will generate and contribute to highly novel ideas and evaluate them. You will participate in the planning and engineering of these ideas to bring them to an advanced state of feasibility under the supervision of a manager or Research Staff Member. The objective is to achieve differentiating science and have business impact in collaboration with academic partners, research sponsors and IBM clients. Such endevaours are typically multi-year efforts, evolving from idea or concept formation to experimentation and/or prototype development. The programs will involve real-world problems in areas such as healthcare, emergency management and smarter resource management. PostDocs disseminate, internally and externally, the results of these activities through publications, patent disclosures, seminar participation and seminars. You will represent IBM at professional meetings, in professional societies and universities and keep technically abreast of the literature and progress within your specific and related areas of expertise. As the successful candidate you have a proven track record of original and creative research with a deep knowledge of information technology and computer science including experience in one or more of the following areas: high-performance computing, machine learning, cloud, analytics (e.g. predictive analytics, statistics, operations research), information visualization and/or mobile computing. Qualifications Required: • Ph. D. in relevant discipline (Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics) • Track record of research publications in high-quality journals and conferences • Proven ability to collaborate in research teams • Excellent written and communication skills • Ability to work with and maintain close connections with other teams around the world IBM has always been committed first and foremost to its people.
