Bioinformatics ScientistSwedish Medical CenterUSA-WA-Seattle Where you work matters! Swedish Medical Center is looking for a 1.0FTE Bioinformatics Scientist to work Day Shift for the Tumor Institute at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, WA.

The Bioinformatics Scientist is responsible for designing, implementing, analyzing, and validating bioinformatics algorithms and software tools in support of research or clinical objectives.

In this position you will:
• Manage project(s) or a specific aspect of a project, and is accountable for meeting established deadlines.
• Design, direct, and evaluate scientific experiments appropriate to project objectives.
• Propose new project ideas and participate in new project proposal meetings.
• Participate in writing project updates and reports, proposals, scientific articles, and patent applications.
• Maintain current knowledge of research literature and activity in bioinformatics and computational biology and applies state-of-the-art concepts and technologies.

Required qualifications for this position include:
• Ph.D. degree in Biology, Molecular Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related scientific discipline pertinent to research area.
• 2-5 years of directly relevant experience in a research environment.
• Working knowledge of computers (either DOS-based or Macintosh), standard office software packages (Word, WordPerfect, Lotus, Excel, Access, Power Point, etc.), standard office equipment (photocopiers, facsimiles, telephones, pagers, etc.).

About the First Hill Campus
The 697-bed tertiary-care center on the Swedish/First Hill campus is the flagship of the Swedish health-care system. Swedish/First Hill has one of the most active and advanced birthing programs in Washington state and houses a Level III neonatal intensive-care unit. More surgeries are performed each year at Swedish/First Hill than at any other facility in the region; volumes include more total joint replacements than any other medical center in the state.
