Job Description:
Post-doc and PhD student positions in Computational Biology and Cancer GenomicsUniversity of LausanneDepartment of Medical GeneticsSwitzerland Ph.D. and Post-doctoral positions are available in the group of Prof. Giovanni Ciriello.

Research in the lab focuses on designing, developing and applying computational approaches to improve our understanding of cancer biology. Algorithm design and application will leverage multiple types of large-scale human genomic data (RNA and DNA sequencing, DNA copy number, DNA/Histone methylation, protein and phospho-protein expression) to infer and validate functional relationships between molecular alterations in tumors and potentially establish clinical relevance.

Our lab synergizes with the vibrant and multidisciplinary cancer research community in Lausanne, including research groups at UNIL, CHUV and EPFL as part of the nascent Swiss Cancer Centre of Lausanne (see more about it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swiss_Cancer_Centre or http://www.isrec.ch/en/agora/Mission.html).

The applicant will develop his/her research project while having the opportunity to engage in collaborations with both computational and experimental biologists and clinicians.

For post-doc applicants, a Ph.D. in computer science or related field and at least one first/main author publication in a peer-reviewed journal are required. Solid programming skills are required for both types of position (Java and R are preferred). Previous experience in computational biology and/or cancer genomics is a plus.
