Job Description:
The position A postdoc position funded by an ERC Consolidator grant is available in theVan Attikum laboratory at the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC; Leiden, the Netherlands). As a postdoc you will study how chromatin remodeling enzymes counteract DNA strand breaks and replication stress in order to prevent genomic instability in human cells. The research will encompass a cross-disciplinary approach that combines novel and cutting-edge genomics with bioinformatics, genetics, biochemistry and high-resolution microscopy. Your profile You are an extremely motivated and dedicated researcher who: • holds a PhD in cell biology, molecular genetics or related field • has experience with research on DNA damage repair, particularly replication stress responses • possesses excellent skills in genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry and microscopy techniques • has experience with replication-related assays (e.g. DNA combing and iPOND) • knows how to use the CRISP/CAS9 technology • published at least two first author papers in high-impact journals • has outstanding written and oral communication skills What we offer You will be employed on the basis of a 36-hour week. Appointment is for two years and may possibly be extended. Your salary will depend on your qualifications and experience, with a maximum of € 4,111 gross per month based on a full time position (scale 10 of the Collective Labour Agreement for University Hospitals). The organisation The LUMC is a centre for medical innovation that aims to improve patient care through scientific research. In the Van Attikum Laboratory, embedded in the Department of Human Genetics , the focus lies on elucidating the cellular responses to DNA damage and its relevance for human health, focussing on cancer as well as several rare diseases associated with genome instability, immunodeficiency and/or intellectual disability (click here for key publications ).
