Provide data-analytical services for R&D, process and create technical specifications for product designs, perform data collection, mining and analysis, develop requirements and execute test cases for software development projects. Work in collaboration with Research staff and other departments. Requires knowledge of bioinformatics, molecular biology, serology, bio-statistics or other bio-scientific discipline, as well as ability to quickly absorb a new discipline and to problem-solve.

Key Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned):Provide analytical and data-processing services to Research department for the research and development of new products, including NGS, protein assays andAnalysis and verification of oligonucleotides for identification of target genes and their expressionPerform resolution analysis to evaluate DNA typing kits.Data mining of genomic libraries and genomesUpdate technical specification for customer-facing product documentation.Manage and query data in SQL database.Collect, clean and manage data from various sources.Light scripting and programming work, where needed, to create software tools to assist in process efficiency.Track and maintain detailed log of tasks and outcomes.Write, amend, and edit requirements as input for software development projects.Perform software testing of analytical software applications.Develop, modify and execute software test plans and test cases for data analysis software.Use available software tools and applications to assist in performing tasks.Write accurate and detailed standard operating procedures for duties within work group.Interact with Research, Production, and IT staff. May interact with customer support at times.Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:Bachelor's degree from an accredited higher learning institution required, with studies in Bioinformatics, Life Sciences/Molecular Biology, Computer ScienceFive years relevant experience required, a Master's degree and relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of work experience requirementAptitude for DNA sequence data analysisAptitude for creative problem-solvingKnowledge molecular biology, bioinformatics, computational biology, statisticsKnowledge of computer programs, such a MS Excel, SQL Server 2008, MS WordKnowledge of programming languages, such as C#, VB/VBA, MATLAB, R, Perl, SQL Scripting helpfulAbility to use interviewing techniques to assess and obtain technical informationAbility to quickly absorb a new disciplineAbility to work quickly and accurately with detailed technical dataAbility to write original material from technical specifications, interviews, and hands-on use of softwareAbility to work in an active environment and meet deadlinesMust possess strong organizational skillsMust communicate clearly in writing and orally*LI-JF1
