Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated statistical geneticist to join the Clinical Genetics and Genomics group.The successful candidate will lead analysis and interpretation of large-scale genomics and pharmacogenetic data sets derived from early clinical and translational studies, including data from GWAS and NGS studies (e.g., whole exome and genome sequencing, RNA sequencing, selected gene panels, single cell sequencing and liquid biopsy data) but also work with various large external datasets (1000G, EXAC, ESP, Cosmic, TCGA, ClinVar/ClinGen, NCBI etc.) to support the company’s pipeline across all therapeutic areas with a strong emphasis on Oncology and Immunoscience.The candidate will serve as a scientific point of contact and will work closely with biologists, geneticists, clinicians, statisticians, wet lab scientists and other key stakeholders across different functions in the organization including clinical drug development and biomarkers teams, as well as translational bioinformatics, computational genomics, and translational technologies groups.The candidate will develop strategies to empower experimental design, enable drug development decision making, and apply data analysis findings in the context of specific clinical endpoints as well as overall drug development efforts. Qualifications
PhD, PharmD or other advanced degree in genetics, pharmacogenomics, bioinformatics and/or statistics
4+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech industries or academic research, working in complex, highly matrixed environments
Strong knowledge in the use of statistical software, programming languages (e.g., R, SAS, Bioconductor, Python, Perl, Java, Linux) and cloud computing, with the ability to perform statistical analysis, interpret, and effectively communicate results
Strong experience with informatics processing and interpretation of large-scale “omics” and “ome” data sets (including genomics, pharmacogenetic, methylome, microbiome etc.), statistical modeling, and extensive expertise in population genetics and functional genomics
Experience with analysis of expression and genotyping microarrays, NGS data (including GATK, SAMtools, etc.), and running signaling pathway analysis toolsExperience with large public and private databases, including 1000g, ESP, EXAC, PharmGKB, ClinVar/ ClinGen etc.
In depth understanding of the role of genetic variation in association with human phenotypes and ability to interrogate human causal biology in the context of translational research and drug discovery
