Job Description:
Genia’s mission is to make genetic information universally available through massively parallel DNA sequencing. Our proprietary nanopore-based platform allows for single molecule, electrical, real-time analysis without the need for complicated optics or fluidics. In other words, Genia’s sequencing platform is cheaper, faster, and better than any of the alternatives, and thus has the potential to revolutionize medical care by bringing genetic analysis to the clinic. Responsibilities:
Technical owner of the software for managing the sequencing workflow on Genia’s instruments, both in-house and in commercial products Drive innovation and manage development projects, operating at both tactical and strategic levels, working with R&D teams and management Lead and mentor team members to execute and deliver on projects critical to success of Genia’s mission Contribute to architecture and roadmap planning for internal and product software Manage contractors and vendors for delivery of high quality software and services. Required Skills/Experience: 10+ years software development experience with a distinguished track record on technically demanding projects 5+ years leading fast-paced and dynamic engineering teams to successfully deliver commercial software through multiple releases Experience in managing complex projects that require a deep understanding of the application logic and dependencies, ability to effectively drive cross-team solutions that have complex dependencies and requirements Extensive knowledge of and experience with OO programming, design patterns, distributed system architecture Core competency in Java, Python, or C/C++; extensive experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle databases Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational and time management skills Agile, proactive, comfortable working with ambiguous specifications and can prioritize on the fly Knowledge of best software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, test/behavior driven development, code reviews, source and configuration management, continuous integration and deployment, testing, and operations MS or Ph.D. degree in computer science, software engineering, bioinformatics or related fields Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with any Cloud Computing platforms (e.g. Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, OpenStack, Rackspace) Experience building regulated products using processes compliant with QSR and ISO 13485 is a plus
