Job Description:
The Maniatis lab is seeking a highly motivated Technician B to work on a project focusing on the role of transcriptional events leading to specificity in neural wiring. The technician will work closely with colleagues using techniques such as bulk and single cell RNA-sequencing, microfluidic device preparation, in vitro culturing, and in vivo mouse genetics. Principal responsibilities include: Preparation of microfluidic devices, generation of sequencing libraries, genotyping and general maintenance of mouse colonies, preparation of lentivirus and AAV, general molecular cloning techniques for the production of recombinant plasmids and proteins, tissue sectioning, in situ hybridization, antibody staining of cells and tissues, advanced imaging of biological samples, and behavioral studies using mouse models, implementing optogenetic strategies, and rudimentary bioinformatic analysis.
Minimum Qualifications for Grade
Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant
Requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics or related science or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Additional Position-Specific Minimum Qualifications
Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant
1 to 2 years of laboratory experience using molecular and cell biology techniques, soft lithography, next-generation sequencing and bioinformatics experience is a plus. Excellent organization and communication skills. The successful candidate will have a dedication to completing tasks in a timely manner, attention to details, and a willingness to learn. The applicant is expected to work independently, as well as part of a team.
