The Genome Centre Cologne at the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research (MPIPZ) in Cologne is seeking a


Head of Genome Centre


to lead the genomics service group. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing state of the art next generation DNA sequencing technology and related genomics methods to scientists at the MPIPZ and partner Max Planck Institutes. Responsibilities include managing support staff working in the laboratories, bioinformatics and robotics to provide high-quality DNA sequencing, updating the service as new technologies become available and proposing non-standard solutions to genomics-related problems. In addition, the successful applicant is expected to show excellent communication skills in order to interact with the many users of the Genome Centre at the MPIPZ and other Max Planck Institutes. Fluent written and spoken communication in English is essential, and German would be advantageous.
