Job Description:

The CompanySpecific Technologies has developed a disruptive new technology to identify cells based on their metabolic signature. The first product family developed with the company’s sensor technology, SpecID™, enables rapid low cost identification of blood stream infection causing sepsis. Sepsis is the most expensive condition and leading cause of deaths in US hospitals costing for than $20 billion annually and contributing to or causing 52% of all US hospital deaths. More than 350 million blood cultures are performed world wide annually to determine if a blood infection exists with a market size greater than $1.2B.SpecID determines the identification of infectious organisms more than 4 times faster, 2 days sooner, than standard methods and before other molecular or protein methods can even start, further we do so with less labor and no new instruments. There are additional large, world changing applications for our core technology in diagnostics for other infectious diseases including TB and in oncology determining tumor cell type, mutation variant, and monitoring cell metabolic output during growth, with applications pharmaceutical selection and drug discovery. This is an opportunity to join us at a formative time of company growth.

The JobData Analytics is at the core of our company we are seeking an exceptional talent to join our team. You will be a key contributor and critical to the success of the company. This is the job for you if want to be where your ideas to be central to a world-changing and lifesaving product. We are developing new to the world diagnostic products using a revolutionary sensor paradigm. The main analysis tasks you are expected to contribute to are:

The processing of high-volume, high-dimensional data streams generated in real-time from our proprietary sensor technology. The application and development of suitable pre-processing, feature-selection and dimensional reduction techniques. The development, validation and deployment of re-usable predictive methodologies based on advanced machine learning concepts. The development of data-driven visualization tools for the explorative analysis of high-dimensional sensor data.

The challenges will be diverse as will be analytical and clinical studies. We are looking for a specialist that will assure the company is using cutting edge predictive analytics concepts for the analysis of the sensor data. We are a small group, you will not have 5 bosses, rather you will be expected to work independently. You will not be narrowly defined as one cog in one large project, rather you will effectively contribute to multiple projects. This is not the job for a numbers only person. We want someone with a passion for and experience in the sciences that will lead you to look deeply into the sources of the data along with the scientists so that the data analysis is influenced by the science of our diagnostic technology and the science is influenced by the analysis.Beyond the key objective of contributing to the predictive analytics capabilities you will also team with our scientists and business leaders to present results for publication and business meetings.

YouYou have a proven track record of successfully developing, validating and deploying re-usable analytical models to challenging real-world applications, ideally in the field of medical diagnostics. You are deeply familiar with a broad range of machine learning paradigms and are at the pulse of developments in the field. Ideally you have proven expertise in the analysis of spatio-temporal data sets using advanced neural methodologies. You are comfortable working with high-volume data sets and have experience with distributed computing environments. Domain knowledge in the field of signal processing as well as bioinformatics is a definitive plus. You enjoy new challenges, learning new things rather than a narrow routine of the same project, same meeting and same action item. Knowledge in C++, Python, Scala, MATLAB or SAS is a plus.Proficiency with Unix environments is a must. Additional knowledge in the field of high-performance computing and distributed computing using technologies like Apache Spark, is a plus.Proven track record of independent thinking & innovative approaches to problem solving.Proficiency in SQL as well as NoSQL database technologies is a must.Experience in the development of medical devices, evaluation of their diagnostic accuracy.Solid understanding of the implications of applicable laws and regulations governing medical devices and clinical research.Full fluency (verbal and written) of the English language is a must.
