Job Description:
Columbia University JP Sulzberger Genome is seeking a highly motivated Bioinformatics Analyst with strong expertise in high-throughput sequencing. The Genome Center is equipped with state-of-the-art high-throughput sequencing instruments. It has extensive collaborations with investigators at Columbia University in studies on biology, human diseases, and precision medicine.

The successful applicant would join the Next-Generation Sequencing Lab bioinformatics team, which is located in the Department of Systems Biology, a vibrant hub for interdisciplinary research.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
The Bioinformatics Analyst will be required to carry out the following duties and responsibilities:

Improve and maintain a robust and highly automated computational pipeline for analyzing whole genome sequencing, exome sequencing, and RNA-Seq data; Improve quality control procedures and interpret quality control metrics; Work with sequencing production team to improve Standard Operating Procedures and troubleshoot sequencing runs; Carry out data analysis in strategic projects, including new technology development and collaborations. Minimum Qualifications for Grade

Bachelor degree in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Genetics, or equivalent in education and experience, plus two years of related experience. Demonstrated experience in high-throughput sequencing data analysis or method development. Excellent communication skills and teamwork. Programming: Fluency with at least one general-purpose programming language (such as C/C++, Ruby, Perl, or Python), and one language for scientific computing (such as R or MATLAB). Experience with source code version control systems. Strong creative thinking and problem solving skills. Additional Position-Specific Minimum Qualifications
