Job Description:
The Department of Biology at the University of Dallas seeks applicants for a tenure-track

position to begin Fall 2017. The successful candidate will regularly teach upper-division courses

that cover fundamental biological principles, an upper-division course in the candidate’s area of

specialization (computational biology or bioinformatics or biophysics or biomedical or

biostatistics), and a lower level science course for non-majors. You may have the opportunity to

occasionally teach interdisciplinary courses in collaboration with other university programs.

The successful candidate will aid in advising majors, including students interested in graduate

careers.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

 Prepare and administer student examinations, quizzes, and homework assignments.

 Prepare and conduct comprehensive final examinations.

 Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students.

 In addition to the primary responsibility for supporting student learning, an assistant

professor is expected to participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes for

the program and/or department.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 A Ph.D. in Biology.

 Must have a record of past work in the area of computational biology/bioinformatics,

human genetics, biophysics, biomedical sciences or equivalent.

 A background in bioinformatics and/or computational biology is desired, with a strong

commitment to undergraduate research.

 Knowledge and practice of a variety of instructional methods that ensure successful

student learning.

 Demonstrated commitment to providing a classroom environment in which every

student, regardless of background, can thrive.

 Ability to support and enhance integrity of the curriculum, encouraging student success

and promoting the mission of the department.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 Postdoctoral experience.
