Job Description:
Zymergen is looking for talented engineers with a passion for learning new skills and domains. You will work with programmers, biologists and automation experts to design, build, and continually upgrade the integrated, end-to-end workflows and systems that power an industrial biofactory. At Zymergen, software engineers tackle complex problems at the intersection of intricate biological processes and high-throughput, robot-driven manufacturing. Our software touches all aspects of the company’s work, from automated DNA design and assembly, to sequencing and verification, to strain performance analysis. As a Bioinformatics Programmer, you will build a next-generation sequence analysis pipeline that integrates seamlessly with our database, leverages the best tools for each facet of the pipeline, and scales dynamically with growing volumes of data. You will contribute to a lasting, scalable system driving the industrialization of strain engineering. You will have the opportunity to not only learn more about building flexible, distributed data processing pipelines, but also about the intricacies of DNA sequencing and its automated analysis. Qualifications 5+ years working experience. B.S. Computer Science or equivalent experience. Strong experience collaborating in Python code bases. Experience building, maintaining, and working with data-analysis workflow pipelines. Working knowledge of Linux programming environments and familiarity interfacing with REST APIs. Excitement for learning new skills and domains. Motivated by seeing the impact of your work on the company’s mission.
