This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the leading Stroke Genetics Research Groups both within the UK and internationally. They will join a group who play a leading role in large scale GWAS projects in stroke through the International Stroke Genetics Consortium.

The post is grant funded in order to understand the links between stroke and Alzheimer's Disease (http://www.costream.eu). In this role, the post-holder will analyse large genome-wide datasets, investigating potential causal mechanisms that contribute to Alzheimer's Disease through vascular pathways. This will involve using standard GWAS analysis and meta-analysis approaches, as well as Mendelian Randomization techniques to assess causality.

A PhD in statistical genetics, quantitative genetics, bioinformatics, computer programming, statistics or other relevant areas, or MSc with relevant experience is required for a post at this level. However we would also consider, but we would also welcome applications from candidates with undergraduate degrees in numerate disciplines (Mathematics, Physics, Engineering) and an interest in developing a career in genetics at the appropriate grade. Similarly, knowledge of statistical genetics, in particular neurological or cardiovascular disease, would be an advantage but is not essential.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
